Do People Still Use Electric Blankets?

You may be surprised to learn that many people still use electric blankets these days — but they’re a lot different than they used to be. The best electric blanket is safe, effective, affordable and can save you on your heating bill, so why not give one a try?

You probably aren’t surprised to learn that I first got interested in electric blankets as a way to save money. I don’t like my bed to be hot, but on the coldest nights it’s necessary to do something to take the chill off. Running some kind of heat all night costs a lot of money, and I don’t like to do that unless it’s absolutely necessary.

My research told me that the best electric blanket available today isn’t at all like the ones I remember as a kid. We didn’t use electric blankets much when I was a child, but I remember that I was a afraid of them — with good reason.

Today, those lumpy circuits are gone — and so is the danger of starting a fire with your electric blanket if you allow it to get bunched up. The blanket portion itself is now better, more comfortable against your body and generally more well- made too.

I admit that I don’t use an electric blanket all the time, mostly because I don’t like my bed getting hot. But when there’s a serious chill in the air, there’s nothing better for making the bed comfortable than preheating it.

I often use my electric blanket to warm the bed for about a half hour before bedtime, then snuggle down inside it until I’m about I ready to fall asleep. I then turn it off for the rest of the night. I only turn it back on if I wake up cold, and that doesn’t happen often.

If you decided to order an electric blanket to save money, you can use it however you like.
