If you’re considering beard coloring and are worried that you’ll mess your beard up, it makes sense to start with a natural beard coloring that’s chemical-free and will eventually wash out. If you’ve tried Just For Men or another brand of beard dye and had a bad experience, you know just how unpleasant it can be to try coloring your beard and get it wrong.
If you’ve decided on the bearded lifestyle, you’ll eventually have to decide if you mind having a little gray in your beard. Often, the beard goes gray before the hair on your beard, so it’s a decision many guys have to consider before they’re ready.
The most natural thing in the world is to let your gray show proudly. But the second most natural thing is to turn to a natural beard coloring that doesn’t irritate your skin, damage your beard or cause any long-term side effects.
My Natural Beard Coloring Product Review
These days, my beard has more gray in it than it does it’s natural brown, and for a long time I had decided to let the gray win out. But then I realized that I’m only going to live once — and I don’t want to shave off my beard — so I might as well try covering the gray and regaining a bit of my youth. It worked great, and the product I used was Manly Guy Hair, Beard & Mustache Color — available from Amazon.
My brief experimentation with Just For Men a few years ago caused so much itching and irritation that I knew I wanted to try something else. I was pleasantly surprised to find this product, which works completely differently than Just For Men. While it requires a bit of tinkering to get exactly the right timing for perfect coverage, it was worth the effort, I found.
Manly Guy beard coloring takes a bit longer to work than chemical dyes, but that doesn’t bother me. It doesn’t cause any irritation, so I don’t mind waiting a few more minutes. And even better, since there are no chemicals to damage your hair or the skin underneath, you can try again right away if you want to darken the color. You can’t do that with most dyes.
Plus, you can touch up as often as you like. My beard hair grows relatively slowly, but if yours grows fast, you can do frequent touch-ups and not burn your skin or damage your hair. Use it as often as you like.
There are a range of colors available, but medium brown is the right choice for many guys. Even if your hair was darker than that, it makes sense not to go too dark at first. You can always try a darker color later. In general, dark hair looks the most unnatural. It always looks better to use a dye that’s a few shades lighter than your actual hair color than to use one that’s a bit darker.
The primary ingredient is henna, but this product isn’t as much of a pain to deal with as regular henna. And the other things added to the Manly Guy beard coloring make it work better. But the addition of indigo, for example, means you need to follow the directions very carefully. Indigo stops working very quickly, so you need to get the process done in about 15 minutes or so. Otherwise, you lose the stabilizing benefit of the indigo.
All you have to do to use this natural beard coloring is to add the required amount of water to the supplied material, mix and apply right away. Everything you need to do that safely and without a lot of mess is included. Leave it in the required amount of time for the color you want, then wait.
The color lasts one or two months, then starts to fade gently. You can reapply whenever you want. Of course, if you cut your beard regularly, you may trim off the colored hair and have to reapply sooner. And you’ll need to recolor to cover the gray growth at the roots.
Specific features about this product that I like include:
- There’s no rash, itching or burning because this is a chemical-free beard coloring.
- All ingredients are organic and cruelty-free, plus they’re completely safe and natural. Ingredients include henna and indigo as well as only three other simple, natural ingredients.
- The color lasts 4 to 8 weeks, then fades slowly. But reapplying at any time is safe and effective.
- This beard coloring mixes quickly and easily with only water.
- The product adds body, manageability, color and shine to your beard and moustache hair.
- An application kit is included so you always have everything you need to do the job effectively.
- Manly Guy beard dye can be used on previously colored hair as well as straightened and permed hair.
Additional Thoughts On This Natural Beard Coloring
It took me two tries to get the timing right for the exact color I wanted. Some people like to buy a darker colored product, I’m told, then wait less than the recommended time for lighter coverage instead of using a color that matches their beard, and that may work for you.
Every day, we’re exposed to a barrage of chemical and pollutants that find their way into our bodies. That’s why it makes sense to do whatever we can to avoid adding more chemical to our lives intentionally. Plus, chemicals hurt when you put them on your face. I found that out the hard way.
Manly Guy lets you get the youthful and manageable beard you want without subjecting yourself to a covering of chemicals. That’s why it’s my natural beard coloring of choice.
